My words of wisdom today.

Actually, not mine but Woody's. Same difference.

Forget the lion and the witch, just looking for the wardrobe.

Maybe it's the snow, or the layers I've been forced to wear to bed lately to stay warm, but I'm starting to think about summer. And by think I mean pine for as if warm weather were some mythical place like Narnia, or at least Monte Carlo circa 1958. So I'm saving my pennies in the hopes to have my entire Summer 2010 wardrobe filled with Harvey Faircloth's latest collection. I'm serious. I want one of his outfits for every day of the week, starting June 1st.

Friday video time.

This one feels apropos. Don't know why; let's just go with it.

Perspective.

So, just returned stateside after a weekend in the UK visiting Tom's family. All I can say is that there's nothing like a long afternoon wandering through the English countryside with family to level your priorities and remind you what's really important.

Bling bling.

Can I get away with this fab gold plated ring set from Maison Martin Margiela? Better question: will anyone be able to stop me?

Où est la bibliothèque?

Darling, darling Tavi (the world's favorite pre-pubescent fashion blogger) just had a feature written up about her in Vogue Paris. I'm sure it's a fantastic article (i.e. I don't have time to refresh my high school French), but for now I'm distracted with the fab photos by Tommy Ton. Check out the full spread here. Le sigh.

My dream office.

I would love going to work if I had an office like this to toil away in. The pictures! The books! The light! This is all the motivation I need to start working from home.

Pin-ups circa 2010.

If I can lose 10 pounds and 2 cup sizes, I might be able to pull off these amazing new designs from Parisian designer, Calla. After spending her first few years in the business designing textiles for the likes of Alexander Wang and Erin Fetherston, she's debuting her own collection...and in the process somehow proves that mini-miniskirts and nude bustiers can be classy.

Anthony Micallef.

Is it odd that I find myself loving artwork that is beautiful-yet-borderline-disturbing? I blame an early introduction to Francis Bacon. Regardless, I can't quite get over the level of awesome displayed in the work of Anthony Micallef. His work precariously walks the line between childhood dream and terrifying nightmare. Kind of how I feel about Christoper Walken. Or stirrup pants.

Iradj Moini.

I'm a big fan of the chunky necklace. Let's be honest: borderline obsessed. Why? Because seriously (and I challenge anyone to defy this), any outfit can be completely transformed into something amazing with the appropriate big bedazzled riviere around the neck. Hence why I love these latest creations by New York based jewelry designer Iradj Moini. Beautiful, unique pieces that work as well with a gown as they do a white t-shirt and jeans.

Tattoos.

I've never really wanted a tattoo (mostly because images of anchors and swallows and other such stereotypes still haunt me even 5 years after leaving Williamsburg) but I might make an exception for one by Amanda Wachob. Her work looks like art done with a paint brush rather than a needle. If you're interested, she's just down the way at Dare Devil Tattoo in the Lower East Side.

Reason #2381 to move to Paris.

In my mind, all lunch hours would look like this.

Photobucket
By the way, this is just one photo from an amazing set by Tom Palumbo. All incredible candids from Paris 1962, which only prove that I not only want to live in Paris, but also time travel.

Penguin classics.

To continue my obsession with book cover design, I came across these really beautiful hardcover Penguin classics and am in love. For only $13.60 each on Amazon, I'm tempted to get the entire set. It will also probably mean trying to re-read Wuthering Heights and not throw the book across the room halfway through. Wish me luck.
